Utility pole down in Shreveport. Thousands lose power

Shreveport, LA (KSLA)- Shreveport Police was on the scene of a collapsed utility pole on Earl Street near the intersection of Earl Street and Hollywood Avenue. The power pole that collapsed was carrying two transformers that have caused the oil in them to spill.

Shreveport Fire Department has built a dirt damn in an attempt to contain the oil from running into the nearby drainage. SWEPCO has installed another power pole and reattached the wires.

Earl Street was blocked off for traffic. According to SWEPCO, more than 5000 residents were without power and many businesses in the area were affected.
