SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – Texting while driving is a dangerous and potentially deadly thing to do. A Shreveport area lawmaker has launched a public awareness campaign aimed at young people to help prevent them from picking up that bad habit. Louisiana State Representative Roy Burrell kicked off the campaign called "Texting and Driving, It Can Wait" at Fair Park High School. Instructors share true stories with the students on the deadly consequences of texting behind the wheel. The students event read the text message that was sent or received before someone's life was altered or even ended. So students can see that the text wasn't worth the tragic consequences. The students also signed pledges to promise they won't text and drive.
