President Obama honors fallen law officers

President Barack Obama paid tribute to the nation's fallen law enforcement officers today. He was joined by the families of officers from both the local, state and federal levels to honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty. The president said the nation's fallen law officers protected all Americans and that their country is grateful for their ultimate sacrifice.

"to the survivors of fallen law enforcement officers, our hearts go out to you for your loss.  Husbands and wives, mothers and fathers you loved, they protected us all." Obama said.

Obama addressed the audience from the west front lawn of the Capitol on Peace Officers Memorial Day which is part of National Police Week.
