Leesville police dispatcher fired for possession of child porn

LEESVILLE, La. (AP) - Louisiana State Police investigators have arrested a 56-year-old police dispatcher on a charge of possession of child pornography.

Authorities say Roy Bartmess Jr. of Leesville was booked Thursday into the Vernon Parish Detention Center. He remained jailed on $10,000 bond. It was not immediately known whether he had an attorney.

State police said Friday that the arrest stemmed from an investigation that found images of child pornography being downloaded on to computer at Bartmess' home. New Llano Police Chief Danny Hunt said Bartmess worked as a dispatcher with the department since January 2008. "Upon his arrest, he was terminated immediately," he said.
