SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – A long list of "who's who" from the Shreveport-Bossier area gathered today to promote an important cause and have a little fun.
They attended the kick-off party at the Robinson Film Center for this year's Baron's Ball. It's a fundraiser that supports the American Cancer Society.
Supporters and sponsors, like Chesapeake Energy, say it's important to remember the real reason for the gathering: the efforts of ACS.
"They do a wonderful job here in Shreveport and Bossier supporting research, supporting other services for cancer patients," says Kevin McCotter, Chesapeake Energy spokesperson. "At Chesapeake we're about healthy communities (and) the American cancer society. It's a privilege for us to be a presenting sponsor."
KSLA News 12 is also a proud sponsor. General Manager James Smith attended the event, and signed a star that will join the many other sponsor stars as flooring for the upcoming Baron's Ball this summer. It's made to be like a Hollywood walk of fame theme.
