FOLLOW-UP: Teacher's aid arrested and charged for alleged sexting

LIBERTY EYLAU, TX (KSLA) – A Liberty Eylau School District teacher's aid has been fired for allegedly sexting with an eighth grade girl. And just today, that teacher was arrested and charged.

Thirty-four year-old Derrick Jerome Allen is charged with online solicitation of a minor and sexual assault of a child.

Allen showed up to be interviewed by Bowie County investigators today.

In the process, they got enough information to arrest and charge him.

We're told investigators were also able to retrieve some explicit images off of the girl's cell phone.

"He indicates this is the only child he had been involved with, that it was a one-time short-term deal," says Deputy Larry Parker with Bowie County Sheriff's Office. "As the investigation goes on we'll see if there are other victims that will surface."

Allen is being held at the Bowie County Jail. No bond has been set.
