11 Foot long alligator on the loose in Webster Parish

SPRINGHILL, LA (KSLA) -  Webster Parish Deputies chased after an eleven feet and three inches long alligator that was on the loose this morning.

The gator was spotted in the Springhill area along highway 371 this morning. It reportedly, moved off highway 371 near the trane plant and scrambled into a ditch.

A handler paid by Webster Parish Authorities shot and killed the gator because it was too large and unsafe to allow back into the wild.

    The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who ran away from the scene of a deadly crash in George County. Three children were killed in the crash. Troopers said a green 2003 Kia Optima was heading east on Highway 198, east of Depot Road, shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday.
