COUSHATTA, LA (KSLA) – Signs of a tragic accident were clearly marked along Highway 371 after Faye Allums, 22, lost control of her car and crashed along a ditch. Her two children were in the back seat, a 5-year-old and 2-year-old, and both were not strapped into a car seat.
"State troopers said she was going about 90 or 100," said William Barbo, a neighbor and witness to the accident.
Allums and both of her children were thrown from a 1997 Chevy Caviler through the back windshield. The boy was killed because of his injuries.
"My son was the first one there," said Barbo. "He found them."
Barbo said after he heard the accident he came outside to help. He described seeing the bodies just yards away from his front door.
"They were about six or eight feet from that tree line and the little girl she was lying right behind the car."
A baby bottle lying in a ditch was a reminder of the tragedy where the boy died in the crash. Allums and the young daughter are in critical condition at LSU Hospital in Shreveport.
