1500 S'port residents without power/alleged drunk driver hits utility pole

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Nearly 1,500 South Shreveport residents are without power as SWEPCO crews work to replace a utility pole that was knocked down Thursday morning by an alleged drunk driver.

Shreveport Police report that a major accident off Lakeshore Drive and Curtis Lane and is causing traffic problems in the area.

Reportedly a woman driving drunk hit a utility pole, knocked it down and then allegedly fled the scene to a nearby apartment complex. The woman is now in police custody and was issued several citations as a result of this accident.

SWEPCO crews are on scene accessing the damage and are working to restore power to those 1,500 customers as quick as possible.

Right now they estimate full power to be restored by noon.
