Minden power now restored

MINDEN, LA (KSLA) – As of 1:00 p.m. Monday; Minden, Louisiana officials report that the city of Minden's power has been restored.

According to Minden Mayor Bill Robertson, a bushhog operator cut the insulators on a 115,000 volt power transmission line, knocking out the power to at least 14,000 people earlier Monday morning.

While the main power to the town is provided by SWEPCO, the city also has its own steam-run power plant.

At Noon Monday, the Mayor of Minden called the outage "...a huge problem."

At one point Minden Police Department's radio system was out and officers were only able to communicate with each other through portable radios.
