SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) –Ark-La-Tex officials are on the lookout for the driver of an 18-wheeler who reportedly caused a major traffic mess Wednesday afternoon.
Westbound traffic along Interstate 220 was at a near standstill Wednesday afternoon, between Blanchard Rd., and N. Market St. as crews worked to clear the scene and search for the alleged hit and run suspect.
According to authorities working the scene, the driver of the big rig somehow reportedly lost control of the wheel, hit a group of concrete barriers along a construction zone along part of Interstate 220.
The 18-wheeler allegedly left the scene, knocking concrete barriers into eastbound lanes of I-220.
Officials report the next thing to happen, a Ford pickup truck hit, those knocked over concrete barriers head on, immediately putting traffic at a near snail pace.
Shreveport Police say that two people were in the truck at the time of the accident and both were taken to area hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
At this hour, Interstate 220 westbound and eastbound is back open, but Shreveport Police continue to search between Shreveport, Louisiana and Marshall, Texas for the alleged driver of the 18-wheeler.
