Eleven missing after Oil Rig Explosion

VENICE, LA (KSLA) – An oil rig explosion off  the coast of Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico took place last night just after 10 p.m.

The rig named Deepwater Horizon of owner Transocean Ltd., reportedly exploded about fifty miles away from Venice, Louisiana. Coast Guard crews are searching for eleven missing people that were onboard during the explosion. Officials say at least seven people are seriously hurt and two were taken to a trauma center. The owners of the rig say there were 126 total crew members onboard when it exploded.
