BLANCHARD, LA (KSLA) – Monday morning Caddo Parish Sheriff's Deputies responded to a call from a man who threatened to blow himself up.The call came from the 4800 block of Larry Lane.
Deputies tell us that the 45 year-old man called the sheriff's office around 3am, said he had a bomb, and threatened himself and his wife.
The Caddo Sheriff's Hostage Negotiations Team and Special Response Team were sent out, and talked with the man for over three hours.
While talking with the man, he led negotiators to believe that he had taken a large amount of medication.
Negotiators were able to talk with the man's family and found out that he was the only one in the house.
Deputies say they could tell from the conversations that the man was physically deteriorating. So, that's when Special Response Team Deputies entered the house and took him into custody.
The man was taken to LSU Health Sciences Center for evaluation.
No weapons or explosives were found in the residence.
