SPD beefs up ‘Cruising' monitoring along S'port streets

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) –Shreveport Police announced Thursday morning, a new initiative to control 'Cruising' around Shreveport.

The term 'cruising', according to police refers to when offenders drive slowly up and down city streets, blocking access to roads and businesses.

Police say 'cruising' causes major traffic congestion which often times results in traffic accidents, fights, loud music and complaints from residents and business owners.

The operation to monitor kicks off Sunday, April 18th and Shreveport Police have already increased patrols up to 20 more police officers, along with Community Policing Officers and Undercover officers.
