Texarkana Police talk about rescuing infant

TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) – Around 10am Wednesday morning Texarkana, Texas, police got a call from a mother, saying she couldn't wake up her seven month-old daughter.

Police tried to revive the unconscious infant as they waited for paramedics to arrive. Officers were able to keep the child breathing.

She was transported to Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana.

But investigators said they noticed something suspicious with the child.

"While the child was being treated at the hospital, some injuries were discovered that appeared to be suspicious in nature, more specifically the child had some head injuries that would tend to indicate some type of abuse," says Sgt. Kevin Schutte with Texarkana, Texas Police Department.

The seven month-old has since been transferred to a Little Rock Hospital with serious injuries.

Police have arrested 23 year-old Terrance Parks in connection with the child's injuries.

No word on his exact relation to the child.
