Deputy recognized for helping nanny & baby out of burning house

BOSSIER PARISH, LA (KSLA) – A local sheriff's deputy is hailed a hero.

You may remember less than a week ago when a lightning strike sparked a fire at a home in Bossier's Colony subdivision, destroying the house.

We told you about the nanny who ran out of that burning house with a 9-month old baby. 

Well today, Bossier Sheriff's Deputy Mike Almond was recognized for his heroism, while off-duty when that fire started. 

Passers-by saw his car nearby and called for his help when they saw the home engulfed in flames after the lightning strike, Deputy Almond sprung into action.
