SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – We have more information on a Shreveport employee arrested for allegedly molesting a boy at a children's park.
Eric Barber was immediately fired Sunday from his job with Shreveport Parks and Recreation. He was assigned to Bill Cockerel Metro Park in West Shreveport.
We're told he was not working when the inappropriate acts allegedly took place. KSLA News 12's Nick Guillory spoke exclusively to one of Barber's relative's.
His mother had a lot to say, but didn't want to go on camera. However, she did say she didn't know too many details about what happened with her son, Eric Barber but, she's still in total shock.
Mrs. Barber went on to say that Eric had never done anything like this before.
Police tell KSLA News 12, while they were on a random patrol of Southern Hills Park Saturday they caught her son in a sexual act with a 14 year-old boy.
His mom said she doesn't know how he contacted the child, but doesn't believe this is something he's been doing for a while. In our exclusive interview with Mrs. Barber she tells me…"It's not something i agree with at all ... I don't think any child should be treated like that," she said.
Barber's family plans to pay his 11-hundred dollar bond Monday night to get him out of Caddo Correctional Center. This isn't Barber's first run in with the law.
Shreveport Police tell us he was arrested back in December 1992 for unlawful sale of a weapon to a minor and a 1996 felony theft conviction.
