Police: 7 injured in 2 shootings in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, LA (AP) - New Orleans police say seven people were shot in two incidents in the French Quarter early Sunday.

Officer Shereese Harper says the first shooting happened around 2 a.m. on Canal Street and left two injured. She says the second, on Bourbon Street, around 3 a.m., injured five.

Police haven't released any possible motives. Harper says both shootings remain under investigation.

WDSU TV and WWL TV each reported on the incidents.

The shootings came near the end of a holiday weekend that included Saturday's Bayou Classic football game between Grambling State and Southern University.
