SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – Three Shreveport City Inspectors and two Shreveport City Contractors with the Office of Community Development were in court Wednesday morning.
Santana Brown, Alex James, Ray Anthony Jones, Daniel LaCour and Jackie Mandigo appeared in Caddo District Court at 9:30 a.m. All five defendants plead not guilty.
The three city inspectors and three of the four local contractors were arrested back in August of this year. Brown and James both are facing charges of contracting without a license and home improvement fraud.
Jones, LaCour and Mandigo are all facing charges of filing false public records.
The group was arrested following a six month investigation of Shreveport's Community Development Department. The alleged scam led the city to shut down its repair program for low income families.
If convicted, all five defendants face up to five years in prison on each conviction.
