SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) –Good news for Shreveport's General Motors plant came Tuesday morning. Production of the Hummer line has resumed at GM in Shreveport.
Production of the Hummer line was halted this summer as the plant went on extended furlough and the company announced plans to sell the line off as part of its bankruptcy.
Chinese heavy equipment manufacturer Sichuan Tengzhong agreed to buy the line back in October and the plant resumed production on the H-3 and H-3-T for export.
Now, GM's cranking out the pickups and SUV's for domestic distribution as inventory continues to drop and demand rises from North American dealerships. A spokesman for Hummer says inventory is "very low."
As of November 1st, Hummer had just over 1100 vehicles in the United States. The 2010 H-3 SUV's should start hitting dealership showrooms in early December.
