BOSSIER CITY, LA (AP) - Rain is in the weekend forecast for northwestern Louisiana but it is not expected to add to the recent flooding problems in Bossier Parish.
Ben McGee, a hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey, tells The Times newspaper in a Friday story that the waters that inundated the parish after heavy rains last week are expected to keep falling.
Computer models predict local water bodies like Red Chute Bayou will continue to fall despite the rainfall that is expected to arrive Sunday, McGee said.
Sandbagging operations continue in some areas of the parish, particularly in the southern portions. Several roads in that area remain under water, including one lane of U.S. Highway 71.
