MANSFIELD, LA (AP) - A Louisiana state police investigator is scheduled to meet Monday with DeSoto Parish sheriff's officials in a probe of the DeSoto Council on Aging, the organization that provides meals and services to the parish's elderly residents.
Mansfield police asked state authorities to look into allegations of misappropriation of funds at the DeSoto Council on Aging. Authorities say an auditor's findings prompted the investigation. Mansfield police called in state police because of a potential conflict.
Expenditures getting the auditor's attention include more than $67,000 in checks written to the agency's director on top of her $44,200 annual salary.
