Former Natchitoches Sheriff's Deputy indicted in boat crash

NATCHITOCHES, LA (KSLA) - A former Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's deputy has been arrested after he was indicted in connection with a May 24th boat crash that injured six people on the Cane River.

Former deputy, 27-year-old Joseph Townsend, is charged with three counts of first-degree vehicular negligent injuring.

Three women including Townsend's wife were charged with criminal mischief, for reportedly giving false information to a law enforcement officer.

Townsend reportedly was piloting one of the boats involved in the nearly head-on collision.

Six people were injured, including two seriously.
