SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - An attempted robbery and homicide from a couple of years ago is now in the Caddo Court system, that's where a young man faces life behind bars.

The owner of Goody's Beauty Supply store was found shot in the head inside the store at Fairfield and Seventieth in January, 2007.

Police say then, 15 year old, Corenza Kelly shot and killed the shop's owner, Myoung Ran Ellis.

Kelly is charged with second degree murder.

His trial just began, and jury selection is underway.

Jimmy Ray White is also on trial at the Caddo Parish Courthouse.

White is charged with manslaughter.

Police say White ran into Adam Klingensmith with his car on Corbitt and Lynwood, but Klingensmith's body was found several blocks from that scene.

If convicted, White could face up to 40 years.

Opening statements in both cases are expected Wednesday or as late as Thursday.
