NEW ORLEANS, LA (KSLA) - A 15 year old was shot and killed by a New Orleans police officer Thursday night.
The incident happened when the officer was on patrol in what is said to have been a high crime neighborhood.
The officer, who is on the 4th District Task Force, has not been named. But, he claims that Dawonne Matthews had a gun.
The officer said that the teen pointed a long rifle with a clip at him before he fired his weapon.
Friends and family said that Matthews had just left a neighborhood gym with a friend.
Matthews' family is having a hard time believing the officer's story.
