Shreveport police chase drug suspect

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Shreveport police opened fire on a drug suspect's truck during a high speed chase Tuesday night with a new born baby inside.

The Caddo-Shreveport narcotics unit was attempting to make an arrest on the driver, when he tried to use his vehicle as a weapon.

The suspect cruised into Bossier City, rolling on the rim after the tire had been shot out by Shreveport police.

Bossier City police captured the suspect on Arthur Ray Teague parkway near shady grove.

He is now facing multiple charges, including child desertion.

The suspect was also charged with operating an unsafe vehicle, careless operation and being a fugitive out of Shreveport.

Bossier city police said that they will turn him over to Shreveport authorities to face other charges.

A passenger in the truck is also being questioned and could possibly face charges as well.

The newborn was released to its mother.
