Fireworks sales normal for holiday

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -The tough economy doesn't seem to keep people away from Ark-La-Tex firework vendors. In fact, some people are buying big.

"The party is still's definitely on!," said Mickey Fertittie. He's not letting the down economy stop his show.

Matter of fact, he's buying big---the little he bought today adds to the $2000 in fireworks he already has for Friday's fireworks show at his home.

"People in times of bad economy-people still will have their amusement stuff. They're going to buy the fireworks. It's just part of the tradition," said fireworks vendor Jerry Nuckolls.

It's that tradition Nuckolls is talking about that brings the family together for a big blast.

Despite the downturn in the economy people are still willing to buy fireworks packages even at the price of $199.95.

"This is 30...what do you call that...these go in a tube to blow up...if you come across the road where we're doing our fireworks display-I'm going to show you what a real set up is!," said Fertittie.

The owner said business has been slow, but he thinks it will pick up later this evening and Saturday is the big day.

"The holiday is on a Saturday this year and generally when it's on a weekend it's a little better, because people don't have to get up they can sleep on Sunday."

It is a weekend that could lead to a big boost for Ark-La-Tex fireworks vendor's pockets.
