Is your stimulus check in the mail?

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - After President Obama signed the "Economic Recovery Plan" into law earlier this year it freed up extra cash for those who qualified.

Now, some KSLA News 12 viewers are saying "show me the money!"

"Everyone should have received their benefits by now and if they haven't they need to make sure they check their bank statements if they have direct deposit," said Dora Miller, Social Security Administration.

Social Security officials tell KSLA News 12 the only way you would have received an actual 250-dollar check is: if you received social security benefits or supplementary security income, VA benefits or railroad retirement funds between November 2008 and January 2009.

Social Security officials said if you think you should have received a check-the only way to make sure is to contact their offices.

"Whether you're getting one of those four or two or a combination of any of them you're only going to get only one check," Miller said.

Social Security representatives want to remind you, it does take up to two weeks to re-issue and verify your income to receive a new check, if you do meet the requirements.
