SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Many people in the Ark-La-Tex are losing their jobs and rapidly joining the 46 million americans without health insurance.
In Shreveport Saturday, LSU Hospital set up information booths throughout Mall St. Vincent.
LSU's health fair was put on to help bridge the gap between preventive healthcare versus emergency medicine.
Mary Moore, Director of Hospital Education at LSU, was on hand at Saturday's fair.
"We have medicare and medicaid here so if there are people who are unemployed and qualified for these services . They can get that information here today (Saturday)," said Moore.
Along with information on various health care issues, the event also offered screening for blood pressure, hearing and vision.
