Threat to LA's SNAP program not a scare tactic, state official says
Unless Louisiana lawmakers come up with more revenue, the state Department of Children and Family Services could take a hit exceeding $30 million. That's enough to close down the department's SNAP program. DCFS Secretary Marketa Walters says the cuts cannot come from any other department. "I keep telling people, 'Oh, surely this won't happen, I'm sure they'll come up with the money.' But they haven't yet."
