Motorists lined up for ashes and prayer March 1 in the parking lot of Christ United Methodist Church in south Shreveport. "I think it's very convenient because people have called and said that they have different places to go and that they need to just come by during lunch or come by going to work," the Rev. Kaylan Walker said. "Also, some older persons don't like to get out at night, so they come by." His church has a traditional Ash Wednesday service at 6 p.m. March 1.
