Caddo Parish Man Charged With Murder in 11-Year-Old Case

A man who confessed to killing a Shreveport woman 11 years ago has now been offically charged with the crime.
Thursday the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office charged Eric Mickelson with second-degree murder in the death of Kristi O'Pry.
Mickelson was alread in the Caddo Correctional Center on a first-degree murder charge in connection with the July death of 86-year-old Charlie Martin.
Detectives say after Mickelson was arrested, he confessed to killing O'Pry. He was the last person seen with O'Pry before she disappeared in July of 1996. Mickelson told detectives he strangled O'Pry, then disposed of her body in a pond on his Woolworth Road property. He said he moved the body to another location. Information provided by Mickelson was corroborated by evidence recovered from the pond.
Caddo Parish investigators conducted a detailed search of the Jefferson Paige Road area looking for O'Pry's remains, but nothing was ever found.
