A world-renowned gospel singer and Stellar Award winner was in Shreveport this weekend. He was performing to help in the fight against a deadly disease.
Melvin Williams, of the "Williams Brothers" is an Ambassador for sickle cell anemia awareness, and says it's more than just a job.
In fact, it's a personal mission for Williams, because his daughter suffers from the disease.
"It's really devastating to go through, to see your child with that and you're sitting there saying well I wish maybe I could just have the pain instead of them," Williams tells KSLA News 12.
Williams will ended his tour of Shreveport Sunday night with a performance at New Life Missionary Baptist Church. He is donating the proceeds from one of the song on his newest album to sickle cell anemia research.
