SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - The most expensive thing on the list and what Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover says is most important, is the completion of I-49. The price tag $288 million. $156 million will go towards improving the regional airport and $90 million to build an Amtrak stop in Shreveport.
Some of the more eye raising things have to do with transportation needs for the police department.
To that Glover says, "We're asking for 90 additional police officers as well because of what's out here right now with this stimulus package there is a portion that is available for cop sending and we want to go out there and capture as much of it as we can."
Exactly what is it that Glover is trying to get, 12 Ford Expeditions, 8 Chevy Tahoes, 8 Harley Davidson's, 25 Dodge Chargers.
Glover says "Those police officers will need Crown Vic's, they'll need chargers and some will need police equipped Harley Davidson's."
There's also money for improvements to fire stations, the building of water parks, and the improvement of golf courses, the water treatment plants, city roads, and the wish list as it's called goes on and on.
"I'm an optimist. I'd certainly like to think that I can go to the halls of Congress or to the White House and say I'm Cedric Glover, mayor of the city of Shreveport and say we need 2.4 billion dollars and someone would have me a check."
