SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - The next time someone gets booked in the Shreveport city jail, you can get arrest details from the convenience of your home computer.
With a few clicks of the mouse, you can load the alleged offender's name, date and time they were arrested, their address, the arresting officer, their charge, and even their bond amount.
"People are generally noisy," said Shreveport resident Lester Grisby.
"I'll probably be on their cause I was arrested yesterday," added John Garcia.
We decided to check it out for ourselves and found Garcia in the system.
The site says he was arrested yesterday at 12:10 in the afternoon and booked in the city jail for an outstanding warrant with no ABO card, which means he was allegedly selling alcohol without the proper license.
Corporal Bill Goodin says they release as much information as the law allows on the new site.
"It shows that trend for law enforcement agencies across the country to kind of come into the cyber age so to speak," said Goodin.
Goodin tells KSLA News 12 they held back on releasing mug shots of the alleged offenders because they didn't want to taint ongoing investigations.
The booking reports will date back one week on the web site.
"I think transparency is always one of the first and foremost concerns and I think this is just another tool that helps the public be engaged," said Goodin.
