DESOTO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - State and federal agents captured an Ark-La-Tex couple accused of possessing 13 pounds of pot, machine guns, and 1500 dollars cash.
Deputies say it's all off the streets -- a major road block for dopers in Desoto.
"We've received statements from individuals that it's going to be very hard to purchase some narcotics in Mansfield due to this arrest here," said a DeSoto Parish undercover agent.
Authorities tell KSLA News 12 the investigation began when DEA agents in Houston intercepted a package with 11 pounds of pot headed for 30-year-old Carlton Washington.
Undercover agents delivered the package and had enough for a search warrant.
They served the search warrant at about 3:15 in the afternoon on Friday in the 100 block of Major Lane.
Louisiana State Police and the Shreveport DEA were among the many agencies that assisted the Houston DEA and DeSoto deputies.
This point is indicative where drugs were stopped in another part of the country and we were able to dismantle a drug ring," said the agent.
Deputies say Washington is no stranger to the wrong side of the law.
"Mr. Washington has a criminal arrest record of about 14 arrests on his criminal record. None of them drugs," said an undercover agent.
As for Hill:
"She is a nurse and she does not have a criminal arrest record," said the agent.
Deputies are looking into just how involved Hill was in the alleged drug possession.
The office of child services took a young girl from the home during the arrest.
Both Washington and Hill now face charges of drug possession with intent to distribute, conspiracy to distribute, possession of drugs in the presence of a child, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Washington also faces a charge of illegal possession of a firearm while committing a felony.
