Road closures may inconvenience Shreveport drivers

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Closures affecting two major roads could have drivers going out of their way in Shreveport Thursday.

One will affect traffic most of the day on a section of N. Market St.  According to Brian Crawford with the Shreveport Fire Department, there will be traffic interruptions on that street from N. Hearne Ave. to Nelson St. between the hours of 7 a. m. and 7 p. m.

Traffic will be re-routed during the interruptions.  However, drivers are advised to avoid the area or use an alternate route, if at all possible.

Crawford says the closure is due to the filming of a movie in that area.  He said firefighters have been on standby at various sites associated with the production for the past few days.

KSLA News 12 checked with the local film commission's website, but there is no specific reference to which movie is in production in that area.  However, a worker at the site said it's a film called, "W," directed by Oliver Stone and starring Josh Brolin as President George W. Bush.

Another possible trouble spot includes the eastbound Shreveport-Barskdale Bridge.

An advisory from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says traffic on the bridge will be reduced to one lane from 9 a. m. until 3 p. m.  This is to allow for a routine inspection of the bridge.
