Doctors Say Flu Vaccine Doesn't Protect Against Flu

Posted: Updated:
Doctors say this years flu vaccine is not the strain of flu that's going around. Dr. Melita Williams at the Healing Hands Family Medicine office says, "this particular strain of influenza that's going around the country right now is not completely covered by the flu strain that was formulated in the vaccine."
She goes on to say, "you can't predict how well a flu vaccine is going to protect you against the strain that comes out that year because it is a predictive market."
So doctors are encouraging hand washing, disinfecting and asking sick people to just stay home from work and school.
They say people can be contagious as many as two days before they even show symptoms to five days after.
