Pet owners will tell you taking care of four-legged family members can put a strain on the pocketbook. Caddo Animal Control is providing an affordable solution.
Starting in April, low-income families can get physicals for their dogs or cats for just a fraction of what it would cost otherwise.
Director Dr. Michael Dale says, "We're looking to address some of the animals that would never see a vet. These dogs (and cats) are never vaccinated, never checked for parasites, never checked for heart worms. We're going to do some of these things for them."
Caddo Animal Control will start off doing this one day per week by appointment. The agency has limited funds for this effort and hopes others will pitch in to help keep it going.
