Detectives say they are looking into a doctor's claims that an elderly woman was sexually assaulted at a De Queen, Arkansas nursing home.
De Queen Police Chief Richard Mckinnley would not identify the actual place, but sources tell News 12 it was the Brookwood Nursing Center.
When we went there Thursday, officials declined to comment.
The investigation started after the 70-year-old woman went to the hospital.
After an examination, the doctor told police she had been sexual assaulted.
"The doctor called us with the possibility of some abuse to the lady, and we sent officers out," Chief McKinley said. "In turn, we called State Police to assist with the investigation. We believe it's gonna be sexual abuse."
Arkansas State Police do confirm they are involved in the investigation.
At this point, detectives don't know if the alleged perpetrator was another nursing home resident, employee, or visitor.
