Bossier Parish Sheriff's deputies are working a second case of a dog burning in which the animal, a schnauzer, died. Investigators say a teenager admitted to the killing, saying the dog was set on fire and died. Deputies say at least two more arrests, of additional suspects, are expected Thursday afternoon. Investigators did not identify the suspects in schnauzer case but said there are connections to the original dog burning case they announced Monday.
Bossier Parish Sheriff's spokesman Ed Baswell says the incident involving the schnauzer happened about ten days before a dachshund was set on fire. Baswell says, in that case, teenagers are accused of taking the four-year-old animal from a home northeast of Benton. The teens allegedly poured lighter fluid on the dog and tried to ignite it using a cigarette lighter. When the lighter did not work, one of teens went to get another lighter which did work, Baswell said. The dog was set on fire at least twice because the animal would run away and the flames would go out, he said. The schnauzer is believed to have survived but its owners have been unable to find it. Four people have been charged with animal cruelty in that case. Three of the suspects are girls, including two aged 13 and 14.
