BLANKET, Texas (AP) - A suspected tornado smashed a public school complex in a small Dallas-Fort Worth area town. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a twister yesterday evening in Blanket. Brown County sheriff's spokeswoman Kim Chandler says the storm caused "massive damage" to the complex, but not injuries were reported.

DALLAS (AP) - A veteran Dallas firefighter has died after being trapped while battling a six-alarm blaze at a condominium complex. Officials identified the victim of yesterday's fire as 51-year-old Stanley Wilson. Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings called Wilson a hero who laid down his life for citizens.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - The Texas House has approved a plan to train some teachers for classroom gun fights. By a voice vote last night, lawmakers approved a proposal that would apply to public schools that don't already employ armed guards. The plan still must clear a final, procedural House vote before heading to the governor's desk.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - A federal appeals court has upheld a Texas law that says 18- to 20-year-olds cannot receive a concealed handgun license. The court ruled yesterday that the law limiting handgun licenses is constitutional. The National Rifle Association had brought the suit on behalf of 3 teenagers against the state of Texas for denying adults under 21 from getting a license.
