Local resident bakes it up to help save LA wetlands

Posted: Updated:

Bossier City, LA(KSLA)- It is sweet treats for a good cause. One resident in Bossier City just couldn't bear not having a say in the efforts put forth for the coastal restoration operations.

Kim Woods, the owner of Buttercups Cupcakes in the Villagio in Bossier wanted to contribute in helping save the Louisiana wetlands that have been affected by the oil spill, so she made her cupcakes the starting point.

"Thought about it, seeing all the footage of what's going on down there and not many of us being able to go down there," said the owner Kim Woods.

Kim baked it up on Saturday in a day long fundraising event and is donating all her gross sales to the American Wetland Foundation.

Kim's goal is to raise 5,000 dollars to send to the foundation. The money she is donating will be used to buy plants needed for marsh restoration projects.
