WEBSTER PARISH, LA (KSLA) –Webster Parish Sheriff's deputies arrested a Doyline man early Friday morning for allegedly possessing a fake narcotic.

32-year-old Larry Adkins Jr., is now behind bars facing a charge of distribution of a false controlled dangerous substance, violation of parole and possession of a firearm.

The arrest came about following a two month long investigation into Adkins' suspected drug activity.

According to Webster Parish investigators, an undercover agent bought from Adkins what was suspected to be crystal meth. After testing it was learned that the substance was rock salt and that Adkins had been selling the drug to others.

Deputies say that the charge of distributing false controlled dangerous substances has a penalty of a fine of up to $5000 and up to five years of jail time.

Investigators explained that their dealings with Adkins are nothing new.  His drug related criminal history dates back to 1998.

He's now residing in the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
