SFD battle two alarm commercial building fire

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) –Shreveport Fire investigators are still investigating a major fire that broke out at a Shreveport commercial business park Wednesday night.

The Madison Park Business Storage Facility, located in the 3800 block of Gilbert Ave., in Shreveport's Highland neighborhood, reportedly caught fire Wednesday.

A Caddo Parish deputy reportedly called in the fire a little after 9 p.m. When the first fire crews arrived, they found the fire had spread to at least three offices already.

While working to get the fire under control, a second alarm was called, dispatching more firefighters to the scene.

Firefighters say that a total of six fire engines, three ladder trucks, two heavy rescue trucks, two battalion chiefs and one medic unit.

The fire took approximately an hour to completely get under control, according to fire officials.

The blaze ravaged through at least three offices and extended into the attic space of one of Shreveport's most recognizable buildings. 

Fortunately, the businesses were closed and none of the employees were on scene at the time of the fire. 

According to fire officials, less than 10 percent of the building sustained fire damage.  Fire Investigators are working diligently to determine the origin and cause of this fire.
