Waldo, Ark., chief to investigate animal bodies

Associated Press - November 25, 2009 4:54 PM ET

WALDO, Ark. (AP) - Police are trying to find out who dumped dozens of dead animals on city-owned property in Waldo.

Some of the animals were buried on property of the city's treatment plant, but bones and carcasses also lie strewn about on the surface of the ground. That has created a stench that left Alderman Ricky Lambert gasping for breath when he visited the site.

Police chief Robert Philson says he's opening an immediate investigation into allegations that city workers are responsible for dumping the bodies.
