BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett, Kentucky linebacker Sam Maxwell and Alabama punt returner Javier Arenas are the SEC players of the week.

Mallett passed for 313 yards and five touchdowns in a win over Mississippi State. He set the school record with 28 TD passes in a season.

Maxwell had a career-high 11 tackles in the Wildcats' win at Georgia, including a stop at the 1-yard line in the final minutes and a fumble recovery on the next play.

Arenas scored on a 66-yard return, his SEC-record seventh score on a punt return.

Linemen of the week announced by the league Monday were Mississippi guard Reid Neely and Tennessee defensive tackle Wes Brown.

Vanderbilt running back/return specialist Warren Norman was the freshman of the week.
