
Natchitoches, LA (KSLA) – Two year old Kevin Stafford of Natchitoches was killed Sunday evening when the vehicle, a 2002 Dodge Stratus, driven by his father Kevin Stafford swerved to avoid hitting a deer that had run out onto the road in front of him.
Stafford, who was traveling west bound on La. Hwy 4 about 4.2 miles east of Hwy 71, lost control of the car and collided with a tree. The impact occurred on the passenger side of the vehicle where Kevin was sitting in a booster seat.
According to police the boy sustained a serious head injury.
Life Air Rescue responded and transported the child to LSUHSC where he was later pronounced dead.
The boy's father was taken by private vehicle to LSUHSC with minor injuries.
The accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
