DeSoto sees 2nd gas well problem in a week

Posted: Updated:

DeSoto Parish, LA (KSLA) – Authorities say a fire at a natural gas well site in DeSoto Parish is under control and emergency crews are letting the fire burn itself out.

Just after 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, viewers began calling the KSLA News 12 Newsroom to report flames shooting high into the air from a natural gas well site in DeSoto Parish.

The DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office said emergency crews responded to a fire at a natural gas well site in the 800 block of Highway 5, near Murray Lane and Denica Lane.

One caller described seeing the fire from her property along Triple J Road in Kingston.

This latest gas well incident is in Fire District 8, the same district as Wednesday's blowout involving a Chesapeake well just outside of Grand Cane.  In that incident, one rig worker was killed and another seriously injured.

KSLA News 12 is told there are no injuries.
