TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) – A bomb scare Saturday morning temporarily forced the evacuation of a Texarkana, Texas hotel.

It all began around 8:45 a.m. at the Marriott Town Place Hotel, located in the 5000 block of Cowhorn Creek Loop, in Texarkana.

Texarkana, Texas Police say an employee of the hotel called police in reference to a suspicious package found inside the hotel.

Officers arrived on scene to find an abandoned suitcase which reportedly had been at the hotel for three days.

Police say the employee that called in the package reportedly opened the suitcase and found several items which appeared to look like explosive materials.

The employee, according to police took the case to an open field outside of the hotel.

Officials with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives Bureau (ATF), along with Bossier City Fire Dept. Bomb Squad were called in for assistance.

As a precautionary measure, hotel patrons were evacuated and a 1,000 foot perimeter was set.

Bossier City squad members upon investigation found the case to be safe and hotel patrons were allowed back into their rooms.
